On Highway 16, at Esk (6 miles west of Jansen) turn north 4 miles. At the first intersection, turn west 1 mile. All roads are paved.

Directions to Pound-Maker coming from the west
On Highway 16, at the Esso gas station on Main Street, Lanigan turn north. At the end of Main Street, turn east for 7 miles. All roads are paved.

Truck route coming from the west
On Highway 16, cross the rail road tracks west of Lanigan. At the Esso bulk station, turn north for ½ mile. Turn east for 8 miles. All roads are paved.

ABEX Award

In 1984, the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce introduced the ABEX Awards to honour outstanding achievements in business excellence. The award has gained prominence as the most highly esteemed symbol of business excellence in this province. The ABEX awards highlight pivotal business elements of provincial prosperity and are the only business award that honours all private sector enterprises in Saskatchewan regardless of size and economic activity. In 1992, Pound-Maker Investments Ltd. was the proud winner of the ABEX award for Investment and Physical Environment.

Environmental Stewardship Award for Feedlot Operators

In the spring of 2002, Pound-Maker Agventures Ltd. was the winner of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association Environmental Stewardship Award for Feedlot Operators. Pound-Maker is very proud of the fact that it produces a safe, high quality beef product in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.  To view the Information Package click here

Quality Starts Here

In l994 the Canadian Cattlemen's Association (CCA) developed Quality Starts Here as an industry driven program to improve beef quality, increase economic returns to producers and to assure consumers that we produce a safe, high-quality product. In the fall of 1994, Pound-Maker became a Verified Beef Producer through the Quality Starts Here program.

Brad Wildeman

Brad was born and raised in Esk, Saskatchewan, just 5 miles from the Pound-Maker site. His first job was building the original feedlot pens in 1970, while still in high school. Over the ensuing years, Brad has worked in all aspects of the company including feed milling, feeding, yard maintenance, pen riding, and health crew. Brad assumed the position of Feedyard Foreman in 1984, and the General Manager position in September of 1985. Over this time period, the Company has grown from a 7500 head feedlot, to it's present capacity of 28,500 head capacity, and the 12 million litres ethanol plant; employing 50 full and part-time employees, and sales of over $50 million annually. Brad is involved in several industry associations, and has travelled extensively in his capacity as Foreign Trade Chair for the Canadian Cattlemen's Association. He has been awarded several commendations for his contribution to agriculture both provincially and federally. Brad is married to his wife, Cheri, and has three children; Taylor, Reagan and Brock. He continues to live on the Pound-Maker site.

Ken Ewen

Ken was raised on a mixed farm near Jansen, Saskatchewan. After graduating high school, Ken took an accounting program at Saskatoon Business College, graduating with honours in 1972. In December of 1972, Ken began working for Pound-Maker in the accounting department. He has continued to work in the office through to the present. Ken and his brother also operate a grain farm near Jansen, were Ken resides. Ken and his wife Arlene have three children. Ken curled competitively for many years throughout Western Canada, winning many events and playing against the best teams in the world. Ken helped organize the Kinsmen Club in Jansen, and served as their first secretary. He was also on the board of the Jansen Curling Club for years, serving as treasurer for many. Ken has been on the church board for a number of years, as treasurer and councillor.

Keith Rueve

Keith Rueve was raised on a grain farm 30 kilometres north of Lanigan, Saskatchewan. Keith studied at the University of Saskatchewan until returning to the family farm in 1985. Keith started employment at Pound-Maker during the construction phase of the ethanol facility in January 1991. Keith has worked in the ethanol operation since June of the same year until taking over duties of Plant Production Manager in December of 2001. Keith and his wife Gail live on a third generation farm and have three daughters, Maegan, Rienna and Courtlyn.

Brad Welter

Brad Welter was raised on a mixed farm in central Saskatchewan where he and his family ran a purebred cattle operation and grain farm. In 1987, Brad began working at Goldenhill Cattle Co. being involved in all aspects of the feedlot. Brad moved into the cattle foreman position in 1996. In 2002, Brad joined the Pound-Maker team as Cattle Manager. Some of Brad’s responsibilities include buying and marketing cattle, overseeing the processing and health teams and custom cattle relations. Brad is currently a director of the Saskatchewan Cattle Feeders Association and is a member of the Livestock Inspector Services Advisory Board. Brad and his wife Lesley live in Viscount, Saskatchewan with their two children Riley and Haley. Brad is a member of the Viscount Fire Department. Brad and his family are involved in minor hockey, soccer and enjoy fishing, camping and snowmobiling.
